Trek is a special Stake Youth Conference with a pioneer theme. The purpose of the Manila Creek Stake Trek is to help young men and young women draw closer to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and choose to follow Him.
Trek will be held on July 16th – 18th, 2026.
Trek will be held at the Sellars Creek Ranch near Ammon, Idaho. It is a beautiful mountain setting with meadows, streams, groves, rocky hills, and mountains all around.
We will be holding some preparation activities in our wards and a fireside for the youth before we leave.
All youth who turn 14 and older in 2026 are encouraged to attend! For seniors graduating in 2026, please talk to your Bishop if you would like to attend. We are happy to include you in our trek experience but recognize that many graduating seniors may be starting missions or have other plans for the summer.
Please talk to your bishop about inviting people from outside the Manila Creek Stake.
If you would like to help with trek and are not already assigned to work with the youth, please talk to your bishop about volunteering to go along as a ma or a pa, to help with food preparation, help with transportation, or otherwise serve in a trek support role. Note that we even need people to help in town if you are unable to travel to Idaho for the full time. Please contact your ward liaison or jensentrek2026@gmail.com.
The stake has arranged to have school busses take the youth and trek “parents” (mas and pas) to and from Sellars Creek Ranch, leaving from the Mahogany building.
Check out the packing list that has all clothing and other items. Some items are required and some are optional. You will need to drop off your stuff on Wednesday evening the night before we leave so that we can get them in the trailers.
Trek participants will be trekking and pulling a handcart around 4 miles the first afternoon and around 8 miles the second day. The first day is mostly level in meadows and forests, and the second day will include more rocky and hilly terrain.
Each young man or young women will be assigned to a Trek Family. Each family will have their own handcart. The bishops in the stake have carefully selected “mas and pas” from each ward. These individuals will lead your family for the duration of the Trek. Other members of your Trek Family will be young men and young women from the different wards throughout the stake. There will be 8 to 10 youth in each family. You will camp together with two other families in your campsite. You will also eat together and participate in the activities together.
Trek participants will be provided with snacks and meals each day. Lunch on the first day will be a sack lunch that you bring with you. After that all the meals will be at the camp until we return on Saturday afternoon.
Breakfasts and dinners will be prepared by the trek food committee in camp. You will carry your lunch with you on the trail in your hand cart.
If you have food allergies, please let us know when you register so we can handle specific allergies with our food committee. There will be plenty of food for everyone!
Each trek family will have tents assigned to their family. The mas and pas will provide the tents. Girls will be in separate tents from the boys and the mas and pas will be in their own tent. Each participant will bring their own sleeping bag, blanket, pillow, and pad.
Sellars Creek has multiple vault toilet facilities in camp and there are portable toilets along the trails throughout the ranch. Please stay hydrated and take bathroom breaks when you need them.
